Where to see LNER 61306 ‘Mayflower’ on Saturday 23rd March 2019
See 61306 B1 Class LNER Mayflower in London and Sussex this Saturday 23rd March as it heads from Southend to The Bluebell Railway.
Mayflower 61306 departs Southend East in Essex, at 0745 (approx), picking up at Rainham (0830), and Barking (0840) on the way to Bluebell Railway. The Steam Dreams operated, West Coast Railway Company locomotive hauled train will arrive at The Bluebell Railway at 1435 approximately. Between Southend and Kingscote (BBR), a WCR Class 47 will haul the train.
Mayflower will join the Bluebell Railway using the Mainline <> Bluebell Railway connection at East Grinstead Railway Station. It wont go through the platform at East Grinstead Bluebell Railway as it goes behind the fence at the station, however if you go to the mainline platforms at East Grinstead, you can see it there.
Upon arrival at Kingscote, passengers aboard the Steam Dreams charter will swap for one of Bluebell Railway’s own steam locomotive hauled trains, via Horsted Kenyes to Sheffield Park.
Update – upon arrival at Kingscote, passengers on the charter train will swap to one of Bluebell Railway’s own locomotive hauled trains. Following arrival into Kingscote at approximately 1325, the 47 will come off the train and standby in Kingscote sidings.
Bluebell Railway’s 30541 + 65 locomotives will take Mayflower to Sheffield Park (1435) where it will be serviced before the return trip. 61306 leaves Sheffield Park with Bluebell Railway’s 847 locomotive arriving Kingscote 1715. The train leaves Kingscote bound for Southend East at 1800.

61603 Mayflower was booked to visit Bluebell Railway for 2018 Giants of Steam Gala alongside 60009 Union of South Africa, although it was regrettably unable to make it.
We will post full timings along with headcodes for this charter train, closer to the time. Bookings for this trip must be made in advance through the Steam Dreams website. This train wont be publicly available for haulage at Bluebell Railway as it is for advanced Steam Dreams bookings and not in public use.
